Start 09:42am. at yellow village sign "Massique", on the EN1-hwy to Maputo. 27c, a few clouds and l. wind. Finish 16:32pm. At green roadsign "Vilanculos 100km, Inchope 474km" [in Northern direction], on the EN1-hwy to Maputo. 38c, hazy and same.
.. Reino continues to battle on' and walked todays stage in hot/humid weather despite the intestine infection (not less impressive that he is chairman of a large business in Finland, the Pyroll group; but I guess the same determination applies !).
For me it meant longer time spent in the "supply zone" at the supportcar each 5km. And I Certainly could use it in this weather.. !
But just as the energy is beginning to return to the legs & Maputo comes nearer (approx. 600km now); another armwound gets infected - I had a fall while running 2 days ago and within 40 hours an infection has started to spread under the skin around the wound itself. Despite desinfection, wash w. rodahlone etc. :-(
After the run the only village pensao', about 30kms bumpy ride from the finish, turned out tobe full. Not optimal to tent w. Reinos or mine inf., but here we go ;-)
Still, any situation also has some good :-) This time eating our spaghetti-in-a-can while the moon went up over the tall Baobab tree and sharing oppinions of development aid strategies w. the local teacher - A thourghtfull man who changed my view a bit on the subject :-)
But more about that tomorrow ! Now its time to work on getting the fever & infection down, and the tent up..
