Inhassoro !
Even though still remote terrain here inthe tropics, we are now getting near some of the main beach resorts of Mozambique. Actually the almost empty, ca. 40m wide and ca. 10km long white-sand-and-crystal-blue-water' streatch here is among the Best places in Africa, if you like relaxing in hot water w. a great beach all to yourself :-)
Similar great places are the resorts along Gulf of Suez (even though the egyptian corruption by police etc. makes the daily running a hassle ;-), South of Mombassa (Kenya), the beaches near Dar es Salaam & the nature reserve 100km N. (Tanzania), and most of all: Ilha de Mozambique w. its un world heritage site; in its own way a 15.th. century 'timepocket' - oddly w. next to no tourists; but creating a Fantastic tranquile ambience among the ruins and blue ocean.
Yes; naturally this is no Beach Holiday' ;-) By now the unimpressive 35 to 40km pr. day impacts the body more severe than when doing up to 70, 80 and at one time 95km (Syria - Great contry for a runner :-) along w. a 211km 24h. in Berlin & a 300km 48h race in Cairo at the longest days in the first year of the run. Tiredness now is much similar to the fatigue that began setting in at 18 000km during wr1.
Though; this time, in wr2 in Africa diarea, amoebic dysenteria and a blood infection has maneaged to drain quite a size of the energy wich could & should be used to fight the fatigue and get recovery going faster (self massage, streatching, eating & resting proper).
Yet the chance to spend some hours at the beach does charge the batteries', bothphysically and motivational :-)) Not least the times when its shared w. Good company !!
Unfortunately Reino who has run the last 1000km w. me has since yesterday had a potentially severe medical condition ! Yet he has insisted in keep moving - today walking the stage (wich isnt much slower than my running pace !). Indeed a man who displays SISU in his sport !
(Senor Louiz takes good care of watching him from the car, making sure Reino remain Ok !!)
