Zambezi !
Running across the newly build bridge over the broad Zambezi River was a huge treat :-) The rivers entire length is 3200kmfrom the
Victoria Falls to the Indian Ocean..
The bridge was signposted w. proper info.: Beware of crocodiles !
The rivercrossing is supposed to be rich in hippos and crocodiles but we didnt spot any from up high on the bridge, but the view was Magnificent :-)
- There is a bit of a 'Livingstone' feeling to this remote area where we see very little other traffic while we run down the btw. excellent road (Moz. seems to be developing faster than E. Africa in many aspects, especially infrastructure, after a long civil war had held it back for a decade).
..And its the first place I've run wich seems to have been a little to remote for else excellent Lonely Planet travelguide (its Russian & Siberian part was a grand companion 7 1/2 months during wr1).
The info sometimes appears strangely similar to other guides, word for word ;-), for example the Bradt' guide on Caia where we have overnighting 3days, has the similar description of a place at the highway; nothing else. While Caia has a surprising variety of choice - if you visit it :-)
We are staying at agood clean aircon. option next to a 'hippo lake'... A Joy to rest out in silense and take in the days impressions:
Today it was most the change in nature just a few km after crossing the Zambezi'. A mix of dense green forrest (N. is more brown/grey open plains) and openings w. villages among the tall elephantgrass.
And - the impression of 'rain that didnt come' - after an overcast day where trees & people seemed to hold the breath. But only drops came.
