Elapsed time: 03:32:02
Country: Africa

Start 08:48am. at white sign "Escola Secondaria, Nacaroa", at N. end of Nacaroa on the hwy to Maputo. 26c, half cloudy and l. wind. Finish 13:21pm. At wooden cross "Igreja Catolica, Naminhapa" on the hwy to Maputo. 32c, cloudy and same.

Ilha de Mozambique

Sitting in the warm pool at Mozambique Island, Mozambique's former capital and UN world heritage site w. buildings dating back to the 15.century. The light blue & deepblue Indian Ocean sweeping up to their blistering white walls in the hot afternoon sun.

-I realize, while doing some leg exercises in the pool to relax the tired muscles, that Im incredible fortunate to have the chance to take in all sides of the world; and also this, luxury side, at a remote point on africas coast.

-Its not always I realize this. Far from ! There are times when after a hot 30-50k in the sun & seeking up a local hotel w. bucket showers, mosquitos & goat dung on the floor, that I somehow dont appreciate it as much ;-)
But I should !

Sarah reminded me yesterday while we were eating our 'dinner in a can' (peas, b.beans and for my part gourmet chicken sausages canned sometime during the early 90'ties) - that this simple life is perhaps the biggest luxury !
..The Silence, the room for Thourghts and contemplation (she meditates several times a day) and to take in the tiny happenings wich make a local day at the particular place in the world, I happen to be at that day.

A local orchestra rehersing at the village square. A donkey sqealing. A woman yelling. The local soccer team having a training match at sunset, kicking up the dust. Or a strange pair of runners inhabiting the local hotel..
