Restday and press conference at the Nairobi Hilton.
Hosted by the danish embassy there were held a press conf. were a surprising (to me :-) number of media showed up.
However, one person who showed up simply blew the legs away underneigth me: Tegla Loroupe quietly came into the room just before we were about to start; shook hands and fast we were talking marathon, running goals, aims and the 'meaning of Running'.
She is one of the most inspiring - and modest (I cannot understand she took time to meet me !!! Let alone knew of the run :-) - persons I have met across the continents. No surprise she has won world championships and set world records, along w. winning New York Marathon, London Marathon & Berlin Marathon !
When still running competetive on marathon (but w. a pb. 7min. slower than her 2:20hour record ;-) I used to watch her on tv and Cheer this small, gracefull, smiling runner - wich was smiling also when challenges were tough and placings were other than 1.st. That made an impression on me back then: I guess that is what running is about; the Joy of Running not the love of winning :-)
It appeared that we shared many ideas of the friendly nature and potential that long distance running has; to connect people & cultures across language and preconcepts. Principles wich also are central in world run 2.
This pressconf. turned out to be one of the higlights of my time as a runner, not becauce of the media but due to the chance to meet & share thourghts with such a clear-spirited Athlete !

The world run continues tomorrow at 9am.
