Start 09:11am. At cross of Churchill Ave. & Zambia Str. at main Square in Addis Abeba. 16c, few clouds and l. wind. Finish 20:12pm. At sign/billboard "Vikrant" tyre factory, 1.5km after km-marker 30 on the main rd. from Addis Abeba to Moyale/Kenya. 25c and same.

Am at day 2 of the treatment of "amoebic infection". The pills is supposed to have a sideeffect of tiredness & sleapiness - but beyond 10 000km that is no news' so my supportdriver 'the gun' and I decided to get get on the road :-)
We broke the stage in two halfs (had some light pains in the leftkidney after 10km of running so obviously I respected the body and took rest untill I felt fresh !).
First part:
21km, 1:48:35h.
Finish 11:39am. At Beza Hotel in Akaki on the main rd. from Addis Abeba to Moyale/Kenya.
Second part:
9.5km, 52min.
Start 19:20pm.
Finish 20:12pm. at sign/billboard "Vikrant" tyre factory, 1.5km after km-marker 30 on the main rd. from Addis Abeba to Moyale/Kenya.
- Interesting to run in Ethiopia by night: the drivers systematicly turns on the high beam at max. effect when meeting other traffic, creating even more mayhem than usual (where turning the light down to normal is the logic in the rest of the world.. no surprise when having spent a month running in Ethiopia, though ;-)
But it was enjoyable to run at night nevertheless - During my years w. competitive extremerunning the nightphases of the events (for example 24hour, 48h. or 6day running) has allways been what I look most forward to ! .. the silence, the tranquility, the strong focus on the goal and the effort when nothing else interferes; the intense match w. the fellow runners, the strategy unfolding at the critical phace of the competition.. !!
Yes; I sometimes miss competetion running :-)
- But then there is the Joy of following my colleagues on the danish national team: This weekend they took part in the world championships in 24hour running. A thrillingrace to follow hour by hour via sms ! Lars (who had the audacity to break my danish record on 48h. last year ;-) was in 2. place untill very late in therace !!
That shows solid talent and I hope one day to see that team on the medal placing :-)
And, indeed we got a Scandinavian medal - in the mens race Henrik Olsson from Sweden took 1. place !!! G-R-E-A-T :-))) Grattis' Sverige !!!
- I'm sorry to write this w. a few days delay but had enough to battle the fever last days. But, SUCH A JOY TO SEE A FELLOW SCANDINAVIAN ON THE PODIUM !!! Should keep a smile the next many hundred km :-)
NB: In Ethiopiagprs-service (global phone roaming service) is not yet avaliable for datatransmission. Therefore the Live-gps data cant be transmittet to the website asusual. It may first be avaliable in Kenya. Untill then traditional documentation is used: photo, logbook, video, wittness etc. !
