Lost in tarmac.. ;-)
The so far longest stage pushing the stroller; approx 70km and 10hours.
Atleast 2 small 'dramas': Unfortunately Charley had to stop at 12:35 /24.4km due to increasing problems w. a pulled muscle; over a dist of 10km it quickly got worse, spreading of the pain up along the outside of the r. thight/muscle. A wise move to pull out and respect the clear signal from the body: recover & rest !
Its sad to see a good friend (back from the 1990ties way before we later become ultrarunners and nat.team colleagues). But w. the I.A.U. 100km world championships in less than 2 months his priorities needs to be clear and I agree 101% in his decition :-) Only I wish I had made the call to stop even earlier at yesterdays stage since he had prob. ca. 8km/ at "Husquarna" before the finish.
The reason could be: getting cold at our 5k food&water stops, running a quite fast downhill earlier that day w. the stroller; or overall fatigue (its a jump from 100k to ca. 500km/10days w. 25kg of stroller to push every step).
We miss you !! But look forward to sharing the Strandvejs Marathon w. you on sunday, 24.August, 10am.
- The other drama: we got lost in allmost all possible ways running out of Jönköping. Look at the LifePilot track for a cheap laugh ;-]
