Yesterdays restday (and safari !) helped in getting the legs fresher but the exhaustion still sits deep in the body. It will be needed to take minimum 2-3 short stages more in order to get the recovery from day to day working again. Though its a bit difficult to explain to the team and I begin to fear somewhat for the continuing of the run (they have travelled long to be part of the run here in Mozambique and want, understandably, to see longer distances -but while the first 10 000 - 12 000 km of a run like this can be relatively forgiving, the 'terrain' & balance of energy to continue is often a point where the carefullness of each stage/day matters. Thats probably why you dont see people get past the 20 000km mark in these types of runs and if I dont find out how to recover properly out of the present fatigue, taking a week or two w low km, and still keep the team happy :-), Im not going to see the other side of the 20 000km as the situation now is similar to the long struggle at 21- 23 000km across the Canadian praries in wr1.).
- The Positive is, that the terrain is amazing - rolling tropical hills w. semidry rivers through the valleys, friendly people and soon an option to stock up on food &water near Inchope :-)
[Nb: You can now access the LifePilot data direct without log-in from the main page ! Also the temporarely lost pic. from N. Mozambique should be avaliable. Unfortunately I was only able to !get the gps-tracking function to work today so no pictures - at startup programparts needs to be downloaded and the live-picture element didnt load today or later on the stage. I hope we'll have it back working tomorrow. Untill then mobilecam. pic& wittness is used as documentation.
For the South & N. American part of the run we are searching for an alternative gps & pic. -documentation method].
